Jan Arentsz van der Werff commanded a ship of the Rotterdam chamber of the VOC. From the list of ships at Vlissingen in July 1653, we know that the ship was named
David and Goliad (or Goliat). From the journals of Witte de With, we know that the ship carried 32 guns and had a crew of 124 men in May 1653. This information is contained on page 121 of the E8812 archive.
